Spring? Is That You?

Sorry, we can't see you through this eternal winter.

March 4, 2025

Spring is just around the corner. Now THAT is a reason to celebrate.

Who cares what the groundhog said? Our Google Calendar says the first day of spring is March 21st, and we WILL be celebrating accordingly. How, you ask? Keep reading Balloon Bar YQR’s Newsletter  to find out what’s up with BBYQR in March!

WOMEN ROCK.

International Women’s Day is March 8th

How are you celebrating the incredible women in your life? We've got some ideas!

But seriously, Balloon Bar exists because a few of bad-ass women came together and worked HARD. Along the way, we’ve gained help and guidance from many other awesome women - our web designer, our business mentor, our bookkeeper, our corporate consultant, our accountant, our lawyer and so many more. Women are often taught to downplay our successes. Not anymore. This is us shouting from the rooftops that BBYQR is a female-fronted business and we’re damn proud of what we’ve accomplished!

Dress for Success’ EmpowHER Gala 2025

Dress for Success is one of our all-time favourite organizations. It’s dedicated to helping women break the poverty cycle and thrive in their working and personal lives. Their EmpowHER Gala is one of Regina’s best annual events, including a 3 course dinner, inspiring speeches, games, an auction, and more!

SPRING PHOTOSHOOTS ARE HERE

Our in-shop Monthly Photoshoots are so much fun! Sign up for a 15 minute session in April or May to see what all the hype is about!

February Photoshoot Favs

We ate too much chocolate during the holidays (speaking from personal experience), so why not get Valentine’s Day balloons instead? From balloon bouquets, to table toppers, to (somewhat scandalous) jumbo hearts, we have it all!

FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS

CommUNITY for Women Breakfast

When: February 4, 2025

Where: Queensbury Convention Centre

Breakfast, Butterflies, and Bad-Ass Women! The South Saskatchewan Community Foundation’s second annual Women’s Breakfast was an a sold-out success! This year’s event was inspired by the Butterfly Effect. With inspiring stories, speeches, and conversations, this morning reminded us of the huge impacts of small changes. And there was delicious breakfast! AND all proceeds supported the Emergent Women and Children’s Fund!

Butterfly balloon backdrop? Check. Pastel photo op framed by balloon bouquets? Check. Balloon centre pieces complete with more butterflies and fresh florals? Check. The coordinators at SSCF always blow our minds. We are so grateful for clients with crystal-clear, ambitious visions that help us to push our creative limits year after year!

Last year, it was Barbie instead of butterflies. Check out SSCF’s 2024 women’s brunch below.

Valentine's Day at BBYQR

Remember what we said about owning our successes? Well here we go:

Our Valentine’s Day sales were 5 times what they were last year!!!

We are so grateful to our community for keeping our hands busy and our hearts full. We’d also like to think it was partially due to our witty rom com campaign. The crowd favourite? The Devil Wears Prada. Hold tight while we review all our campaigns and find places for Meryl Streep references.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The University of Regina's Inspiring Leadership Forum

When: March 5, 2025

Where: Viterra International Trade Centre

We look forward to the University of Regina’s Inspiring Leadership forum every year. But this year’s theme - The Power of Possibility - as well as its ALL-FEMALE PANEL takes the cake. We can’t wait to listen to all the incredible speakers at this event (and to make sure they’re supported by the finest balloon décor!)

STAFF FEATURE

Meet Production Team Lead and Shop Extraordinaire, Lakelynn. She’s our longest employed staff member, our go-to-gal for colour coordination, and our in-house balloon expert!

Q: What are your favourite balloon colour palettes?

A: Either all Chrome Silver or Willow, Evergreen, and Chrome Gold.

Q: What would be the most useful super power at BBYQR?

A: Teleporting! You have no idea how annoying it is to drive all the way to the north end, have something pop, and have to drive all the way back

Q: If balloon bar had a signature scent, what would it be?

A: Definitely Birthday Cake!
